The history of this company began long before television. It started in 1925 with a newspaper called O Globo in Rio de Janeiro. Later, in 1944, Rádio Globo began broadcasting news on the radio. The actual TV network launched on April 26, 1965. A man named Roberto Marinho was the person who started it. The very first show was a children's program called Uni Duni Tê. It used a song called "Moon River" to start the broadcast.

Many important things happened as the network grew through the years. In 1969, it started the first live national news called Jornal Nacional. In 1972, Globo helped broadcast the first color television in Brazil. The network also covers huge events like the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics. It produces a huge amount of content every year. This includes 3,000 hours of journalism and 2,400 hours of entertainment. The company has even won 14 international Emmy Awards for its quality.

You can think of TV Globo like a giant storyteller for a whole country. It uses huge studios called Estúdios Globo to make its shows. These studios are located in the Jacarepaguá area of Rio de Janeiro. Most of the shows you see on the network are made by the company itself. This includes the popular telenovelas that air every night. By making its own shows, the network can share Brazilian culture with the world. It has grown from a family business into a huge global power.
