It uses coffee beans ground into a very fine powder. This powder is much finer than most coffee. You cook the powder and water in a small pot. This pot is called a cezve.

The cezve is often made of thick copper. It has a wide bottom and a narrow neck. This shape helps make a thick layer of foam.

People drink the coffee in small porcelain cups. The grounds stay in the cup when you pour it. Some grounds sink to the bottom. Others float in the drink. You can add sugar when you order it. Some people eat a sweet treat like Turkish delight with it. Many people like to sip water first. This cleans the mouth before the coffee. In the past, some leaders tried to ban coffeehouses. They feared people would talk too much there. Later, coffee became very popular in many parts of the world.
