Making a Tsai Ming-liang film is a very specific way of storytelling. He often uses very long shots where the camera stays still for a long time. This lets the audience watch every small movement in a scene. In his "Walker" series, he shows a monk walking very slowly. The monk moves through busy backgrounds while the world moves around him. Some of his films even include musical numbers, like in his movie The Hole. He also creates installation films that people can watch in art galleries.
