He loved playing football games as a teen. He tried to make his own version. He borrowed $5,000 from his father to start. That first business did not work. Later, he got a computer. He wanted to make digital football games. These games could do the hard math for the players.

In 1982, he left a job at Apple. He started a company called Electronic Arts, or EA. He helped games grow from small projects to big team jobs. He also worked with John Madden to make famous football games.

In 1993, he helped make a game machine called 3DO. It was very powerful. However, it cost much more than other machines. Because of the high price, it did not sell well. 3DO later went out of business in 2003.
