Electronic Arts, or EA, is a large video game company.

It started in May 1982. A man named Trip Hawkins founded it. He worked at Apple before starting EA.

Hawkins believed that making games was a form of art. He called the people who made them "software artists." To show this, EA sold games in square boxes. These boxes looked like music album covers.

At first, EA did not make games in its own offices. Instead, it helped other people sell their games. This changed in 1987 with a game called Skate or Die! After that, EA began to buy other game studios. This helped them make more of their own games.

Today, EA makes many famous games. They have sports games like Madden NFL and FC–FIFA. They also make games about Star Wars and The Sims. Players can use the EA App to find these games on a computer. In the future, the company may change owners. A group called the PIF plans to buy EA. This deal could close by June 2026.
