The Trần family was very strong. They fought off three big Mongol invasions. A famous general named Trần Quốc Tuấn led the way. In 1288, his army won a big fight at the Bạch Đằng River. This victory stopped the Mongol navy.

The Trần era was a golden age for culture. People wrote new kinds of books using Chữ Nôm. This was a way to write in their own language. They also used paper money for the first time. This helped trade in the land. Later, the dynasty faced many hard times. There were fights over who should rule. Attacks from Champa also made the leaders weak. In 1400, a minister named Hồ Quý Ly took power. This brought the Trần rule to an end.
