You have small parts in your throat.

These parts help keep you well. They act like guards for your body. They watch for bad germs in the air you breathe. They also watch for germs in the food you eat.

These guards work in a ring. They sit at the start of your throat. Some parts are on the sides of your throat. Other parts are near your tongue.

Your guards are often big when you are a child. They may get smaller as you grow up. This is normal.

Sometimes the guards get very big. This can make it hard to sleep. It can also make it hard to breathe.

Sometimes small white bits can get stuck in them. These bits can smell bad. They are not part of your body. They are just bits that gather there.
