The land had many forests and big farms. It also had a special radio station at Kamina. This station helped Germany talk to places far away.

When the First World War began, Britain and France moved into Togoland. They wanted to take control of the radio station. The German leaders in Togoland were not a large army. They had about 1,500 police and helpers to defend the land.

The British and French forces moved from the coast. They used roads and old train tracks to travel. The German groups moved north toward Kamina. They fought small battles to slow the others down. One fight happened at a place called Agbeluvoe.

By August 26, the Germans gave up the colony. After the war, the land was split in two. Britain and France each took a part. This split lasted for many years. It shows how wars can change the maps of our world.
