The magazine has a very interesting way of working. The creators wanted busy people to read the news in one hour. They even thought about calling the magazine "Facts" to show it was short. Instead, they chose the name TIME and used the slogan "Take Time – It's Brief." The magazine often tells news stories through the lives of people. Until the late 1960s, every cover showed just one single person. Today, it is also famous for its "People of the Year" issues.

Hadden was known for being carefree and liked to tease Luce. After Hadden died in 1929, Luce became the main leader. Another important man named Roy Larsen helped the magazine grow very fast. He used radio shows to tell people about the news. This helped millions of people learn about the magazine.

Many specific facts tell the story of TIME. The first issue came out on March 3, 1923. Its first cover featured Joseph G. Cannon, who was a Speaker of the House. The very first cover price was only 15 cents. In 2018, Marc Benioff bought the magazine for $190 million. He is the founder of a company called Salesforce.
