It started in New York City on March 3, 1923. Two men named Henry Luce and Briton Hadden created it. They wanted to make news fast. Their slogan was "Take Time – It's Brief."

In the early days, the magazine used a special way of writing. People called this "Timestyle." It used many new words. The magazine helped make words like "tycoon" and "pundit" popular. Time also helped give the names "World War I" and "World War II" to the great wars.

For a long time, the magazine came out every week. Now, it comes out every other week. It has many different versions around the world. There is Time Europe and Time Asia. There is also Time in France.
