Theon of Alexandria was a Greek scholar. He lived in Egypt a long time ago. He was a teacher and a mathematician. He likely led a school called the Mouseion. This school was very famous and special.

Theon spent much time studying the sky. In the year 364, he watched eclipses. These are when the sun or moon is blocked. He also worked with old math books. He edited a famous book by Euclid called the Elements. Theon wanted to make the math easier for students. He fixed mistakes and added more detail to help them learn.

His daughter, Hypatia, was also a great mathematician. She became the head of his school. Theon said she helped him with his work on the Almagest. The Almagest is a book about stars and space.

We still remember Theon today. There is a crater on the moon named Theon Junior. It is named to honor his work with the stars.
