These books follow a French nobleman named Lestat. He became a vampire in the 1700s. Many people love these stories. Over 80 million copies have been sold!

These vampires are different from others. They are not afraid of garlic or crosses. They can cry tears of blood. They can also read minds. They have very strong memories. This helps them do art well. They like to paint, sing, and write. Their skin is very smooth and pale. Their nails look like glass.

In the stories, vampires come from ancient Egypt. The first vampire was a queen named Akasha. She was part of a big family tree.

You can see these stories in movies and on TV. Some books tell the story of Lestat. Other books tell stories of different vampires. Rice even wrote about how Lestat meets the Devil. He travels to see Heaven and Hell. These books are a big part of art today.
