arts Maturity 7-9 Next article →

The Teenagers were a famous music group from America. They sang a style called doo-wop. This music uses many voices to make harmony. Harmony is when voices blend to sound sweet together.

The group was special because all the members were young. Frankie Lymon was the lead singer. He was only 13 years old. He was the first Black pop star to be a teenager. He helped other young Black singers find success later.

In 1956, they had a big hit song. It was called "Why Do Fools Fall In Love." The song reached number seven on the charts. The group was also known for their dance moves. They used choreography, which is a set of planned dance steps.

The group started in New York City. Some members were part of a group called the Earth Angels. Later, they were called the Coupe De Villes. They finally became The Teenagers. In 1993, they joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is a special place for great music makers. They made many hits like "The ABC's of Love."
