Temple is an autistic person. Autism is a way the brain works. She was one of the first adults to talk about it. She says she thinks in pictures. She calls this a mental slideshow. In school, things were not always easy. Some kids were mean to her. But she had great teachers. One teacher helped her build a hug box. This was a machine that gave her pressure. It helped her feel calm. Grandin went to college and earned a doctoral degree. Now, she is a professor at Colorado State University. She has written over 60 scientific papers.
