The name comes from Greek words. It means rule by skill. In this system, people make choices based on science and facts. They want to find the most efficient way to do things.

Long ago, thinkers like Saint-Simon shared these ideas.

Experts work in many areas. For example, central banks use money experts to keep the economy steady.

Experts also help with health and schools. They might use data to plan vaccine programs. They may also use tests to track how students learn.

Some people think technocracy is good. They say it helps society in the long run. They believe science makes choices fair. Other people worry about it. They say it can be hard for regular people to join in. In a democracy, people vote to lead. In a technocracy, experts lead. Some suggest a middle way. In this way, elected leaders pick the goals. Then, experts find the best ways to reach them.
