These racing cars look like the ones you see on the road. However, they are actually custom-made machines. Teams use a special frame called a control chassis. Only some body panels are the same as regular road cars.

The cars use powerful engines from Ford, GM, and Toyota. For example, the Ford Mustang uses a 5.4L Coyote V8 engine. The Chevrolet Camaro uses a 5.7L GM V8 engine. Toyota uses a 5.2L engine for the GR Supra.

Racing rules are very important to keep things fair. This is called technical parity. It means every driver has a real chance to win. In the past, some cars were much faster than others. To fix this, experts created a plan called Project Blueprint in 2003.

This plan made parts like the wheelbase and suspension more similar. It helped the Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore race more closely. Because of this, the racing became much more exciting for fans.

There is a long history behind these big engines. In the early 1990s, the series focused on V8 Fords and Holdens.

In 1996, a group called AVESCO was formed to run the series. This helped the championship grow much larger in the following years. The series has moved to many different locations over time. It has held races in the United States and China. It has also raced in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
