A regular grenade breaks into many small pieces. A stun grenade is made differently. Its casing is built to stay in one piece. It has large holes in the sides. These holes let the light and sound out. Inside, it has a mix of metals. It uses magnesium or aluminium. It also uses an oxidizer. This is a part that helps the mix burn. Even though they are not meant to be deadly, they can be dangerous. They can cause fires from their heat. They can also cause hearing loss. In 1980, stun grenades started fires during a siege in London.
