Long ago, stories were mostly oral. This means people told them out loud. They used gestures and facial expressions. Some people used rock art to help. The Aboriginal Australian people painted symbols on cave walls. This helped them remember the tale. They used music and dance too.

Storytellers use many tools today. They use books, films, and digital screens. Some people use tattoos to tell stories. These marks can show a person's family history.

Some stories are called Märchen, or fairy tales. These take place in a magic world. They are not meant to be true. Other stories are called Sagen, or legends. These are meant to be real stories. They often happen in a real place.

In games, people can be part of the story. In role-playing games, players use dice. The dice decide what happens next. This makes the story feel new every time.
