It was directed by John Ford. The story follows many different travelers on a stagecoach. They ride through a dangerous land in the American Southwest. The movie stars John Wayne and Claire Trevor.

Making this film was not easy. The crew worked in a camp in Arizona. They faced very cold weather and strong winds. Many scenes were filmed in Monument Valley. This place has big, beautiful rocks. Ford used this location in many of his other films too.

People think this movie is a masterpiece. It is one of the most important films ever made. The famous director Orson Welles even studied it to learn how to make movies. In 1995, the Library of Congress chose it for preservation. This means it is a very special part of history.
