It has a head and a long body. Most squids have eight arms. They also have two long tentacles. These tentacles help them grab prey. The eight arms then hold the food. A beak cuts the food into small pieces.

Squid are very fast swimmers. They move using jet propulsion. This is a way of moving by pushing water out of a funnel. They use their big eyes to find food. Some squids are very smart. They can even hunt together in groups.

Squid use many ways to hide. They have tiny parts in their skin called chromatophores. These parts let them change color. This helps them match their surroundings. Some squid also make their own light. This is called bioluminescence. They can also spray a cloud of ink. This dark cloud helps them escape from predators like sharks or whales.
