Soghomon wanted justice for his people. He joined the army to help. Later, he joined a plan called Operation Nemesis. This group wanted to find leaders responsible for the harm. In 1921, Soghomon went to Berlin. He found Talaat Pasha there. Talaat was a leader in the Ottoman Empire. Soghomon killed him to seek revenge.

German police arrested Soghomon right away. He had a trial in a German court. He told the jury about his lost family. He said his conscience was clear. The jury decided he was not guilty. He was free to go. Many Armenians see him as a hero. He later moved to the United States. He lived in San Francisco until he died in 1960.
