Skandha

philosophy religion Maturity 11-13 religion Next article →

This article covers sensitive topics: religion. Parents can manage visibility in Parental Controls.

The word skandha means a heap or a group.

In Buddhism, it is a way to look at a person. It uses five parts to explain a person.

First is the body. This includes things like earth, water, fire, and wind.

Next are feelings. These can be happy or sad.

Then there is perception. This is how we name things, like a green tree.

There are also mental activities and knowing.

Some people believe these parts show we do not have a single, permanent self.

This is an interesting way to think about life.
