Simonetta Vespucci was a noblewoman from Italy. She was born around 1453 near the sea. Her father was a nobleman named Gaspare Cattaneo.

At age sixteen, Simonetta married Marco Vespucci. They moved to a city called Florence. Simonetta was very popular at the court there. In 1475, a man named Giuliano named her the "Queen of Beauty."

Many people think Simonetta was a famous model for art. The artist Sandro Botticelli painted many things. Some people believe he painted her in his work, "The Birth of Venus." Others think he painted her in a work called "Primavera." It is hard to be sure if these are real portraits.

Simonetta died in April 1476. She was only twenty-two years old. For a long time, people thought she died from a sickness called tuberculosis. In 2019, doctors had a new idea. They think a tumor in her brain caused her death. Even after she died, people in Florence still talked about her beauty.
