Farmers build many things on their land. They make fences and sheds. They also provide water and feed. Most sheep graze on grass in open fields. Sometimes, a shepherd or a sheep dog helps guide them.

Sheep live in many different places. They can live in dry areas or cool lands. Many countries raise sheep. China, Australia, and India have very large numbers of sheep. In the United States, sheep numbers were much higher a long time ago. Now, there are fewer sheep farms in the U.S. than there used to be. Farmers must care for sheep carefully. They use special ways to mark lambs so they can tell them apart. They also shear the wool off sheep once a year. This helps the sheep stay healthy.
