For a long time, they worked for the Western Chalukya kings. These leaders were called feudatories. This means they ruled for a larger power.

Around the middle of the 12th century, things changed. A king named Bhillama V declared his independence. He decided to rule on his own. The dynasty grew very strong under a leader named Simhana II. At its peak, the kingdom was very big. It stretched from the Narmada river to the Tungabhadra river.

The Seuna people used many different languages. They wrote in Kannada and Sanskrit for a long time. Later, they used the Marathi language. This helped them connect with their people. The dynasty ruled until the early 14th century. In 1308, the Khalji dynasty took over their land.
