Most tools have a handle and a metal shaft. The shaft is made of tough steel. This helps it resist bending. The shaft ends in a tip. You put the tip into the screw head. Then you turn the handle to move the screw.

There are many types of tips. The most common is the flat-blade type. This is for slotted screws. Another common type is the Phillips screw. It has a cross shape on the head.

You must use the right tip for the screw. If the tip is the wrong size, it can damage the screw. Some tips are magnetic. This helps them hold small screws in place.

Handles come in many shapes. Some are oval or square. This helps you grip them better. It also stops them from rolling away.

Some tools use power instead of hands. A power drill can work as a screwdriver. It is often faster and easier to use.
