Scopas did not stay on his home island. He traveled to many places in the Greek world. He made many statues and also worked as an architect. An architect is a person who helps design buildings. He helped build a temple for the goddess Athena Alea.

Scopas had a very special way of making art. His statues have deep, sunken eyes. They also have mouths that look slightly open. One famous work was a statue of Pothos. Pothos means desire. Many people made copies of his work. He also made a statue of Meleager. He made a head of the goddess Hygieia. Some of his art is in the British Museum. Other pieces are in museums in Rome and Athens. His work helps us see the art of ancient Greece.
