It sits in the north-eastern part of the city. It is near places like Evere and Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. People in Schaerbeek speak both French and Dutch.

Many different people live here. This makes the area very multicultural. The western part has a large Turkish community. Some people call this area "Little Anatolia" because of the many Turkish shops.

Long ago, people grew sour cherries here. They used donkeys to carry the fruit to markets. Because of this, Schaerbeek is called "the city of donkeys." You can still find cherry trees on some streets. You can even see donkeys in Josaphat Park.

The area has many beautiful homes. Some have a style called Art Nouveau. This style uses special art on the buildings.
