Satoshi Nakamoto is a mysterious name used by a person or group. They created bitcoin, which is a type of digital money. Nakamoto also wrote a famous paper to explain how this system works. This person or group also built the very first blockchain database. A blockchain is a way to keep track of digital information. Nakamoto was very active in building bitcoin until December 2010. After that, the creator disappeared from the digital world.

Making bitcoin was a step-by-step job. First, Nakamoto began writing the computer code in 2007. On August 18, 2008, they set up the website bitcoin.org. Then, on October 31, 2008, they shared a paper called "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System." On January 9, 2009, the first version of the software was released. Nakamoto started the network with the very first block of data. This block had a reward of 50 bitcoins inside it. Inside that block, Nakamoto even hid a message from a UK newspaper.

No one knows who Nakamoto truly is. The name sounds Japanese, and Nakamoto once said they lived in Japan. However, many people think the creator might actually be British. They noticed that the writing used British words like "mate" and "colour." Some people also think Nakamoto was a whole team of experts. A researcher named Stefan Thomas looked at when Nakamoto posted online. He found that the posts matched a western time zone instead of Japan. This suggests the creator was likely sleeping during the day in Japan.

If Nakamoto is just one person, they are incredibly wealthy. Their digital wallet has not been touched since 2010. It holds about 1.1 million bitcoins. On July 14, 2025, those bitcoins were worth nearly $135 billion. In November 2021, the value was also very high. At that time, Nakamoto's net worth could have been $73 billion. This would have made them the 15th-richest person on Earth. These huge numbers show how much bitcoin has grown over time.

Many people have been suggested as the real creator. One person was Hal Finney, who was a computer pioneer. Another man named Dorian Nakamoto was once thought to be the creator by a journalist. A researcher named Nick Szabo was also a popular guess. Finally, an Australian named Craig Wright claimed he was the inventor. He said he chose the name Nakamoto to honor a philosopher. However, many experts say there is no real proof for these claims. The mystery of Satoshi Nakamoto remains unsolved today.
