It sits east of the country of Mauritius. It is part of a group called the Mascarene Islands. This group also includes Mauritius and Réunion.

The island was made by volcanoes a long time ago. It has a shape like the back of a whale. It has a central ridge with high peaks. The highest point is Mont Limon.

A large coral reef sits in the water around the island. This reef forms a lagoon. Small islands sit inside this lagoon.

The weather is warm and tropical. There are two seasons. It is hottest from January to March. The wettest month is February.

Many people live on Rodrigues. Most are of African descent. They work in fishing, farming, and making things by hand.
