In the late 1800s, a group of scholars worked on a big task. They wanted to update the King James Bible. This new book is called the Revised Version. It was the first official update to that Bible in Great Britain.

More than 50 scholars helped with the work. They came from many different groups. Some scholars from America even helped by writing letters. The team wanted to use words that fit the English of their time. They also wanted to use the best new ways to study the Bible. They used old Greek and Hebrew texts to be very accurate.

In the New Testament alone, they made over 30,000 changes. They even changed how poems looked on the page. They used indents to show where a poem starts. They also added notes in the margins. These notes helped readers see different word choices. In 1901, an American version was made. It is called the American Standard Version. It is very similar to the original. Both versions are still important in history today.
