It lives in the Horn of Africa. Most of these giraffes live in Kenya. They are the tallest land animals. They can grow up to 6 meters tall.

You can tell them apart by their coat. They have large, block-like spots. These spots are liver-red. There is very little white between the spots. The patterns also go on their legs and faces.

These giraffes are herbivores. This means they eat only plants. They love to eat leaves and shrubs. They use a long blue tongue to eat. This tongue helps them strip leaves from acacia trees. They spend about 13 hours every day eating.

They have a close relative called an okapi. Both animals have ossicones. These are bony growths on their heads that look like horns. Reticulated giraffes also live in groups. Most groups have 3 to 9 giraffes. Many of these groups are mothers and their young.

Groups of people work to keep them safe. They use trail cameras to watch the giraffes. They also help orphaned giraffes.
