"text": "Renfe is the national railway company for Spain.

It is a state-owned company that helps people travel. Renfe also moves heavy goods across the country. For a long time, one single group ran everything. In 2005, the system was split into two parts. One group called ADIF manages the tracks and stations. Renfe-Operadora was created to run the actual train services.

This change helps keep the tracks and trains separate.\n\nRenfe runs many different kinds of trains. Some are commuter trains called Cercanías for daily trips. Other trains are for long distances between far cities. The most famous are the high-speed AVE trains.

These fast trains use a special track called European gauge. This gauge is the same standard used in most of Europe. Most other tracks in Spain use a wider Iberian gauge. This allows the high-speed lines to connect to other countries.\n\nHistory shows how the company has changed over time. The name Renfe comes from an older group created in 1941. That old group was the Red Nacional de los Ferrocarriles Españoles. In 1971, the company used a logo called the \"galleta.\" This means \"biscuit\" in Spanish. In 2005, they replaced that logo with a purple wordmark. Since 2021, other companies like Ouigo España and Iryo have also offered passenger services. This means Renfe is no longer the only choice for travelers.\n\nRenfe manages many important tasks and numbers. In 2019, the company carried over 510 million passengers.

The high-speed AVE service is also very popular. In 2019, over 22 million people used the AVE trains. Renfe has different units for different jobs. One unit handles regional and commuter services. Another unit focuses on long-distance travel. A third unit manages freight and logistics services. One last unit focuses on making and fixing the trains.\n\nTraveling with Renfe can be a special experience. Some trains are built just for luxury and tourism. The Al Ándalus train offers fancy trips through beautiful areas.

There is also the El Transcantábrico train for long journeys.

These trains allow people to see the country in comfort. Whether you are commuting to work or going on holiday, Renfe connects many places. It is a huge part of how people move in Spain.",
