Rebecca is a famous woman from the Hebrew Bible. She was the wife of Isaac and the mother of twins named Jacob and Esau. Many people believe she is buried in the Cave of the Patriarchs. This is a special place alongside Abraham, Sarah, Jacob, and Leah.

Her story begins when a servant named Eliezer went to find a wife for Isaac. Abraham wanted Isaac to marry someone from his own family. Eliezer traveled to a place called Aram-Naharaim to find a bride. He prayed for a sign to show him the right person. He asked that the girl who offered him water and also watered his camels would be the one.

Rebecca arrived at the well and did exactly what the servant prayed for. She drew water for him and for all ten of his camels. This showed she was a very kind and generous person. The servant gave her a golden necklace and two golden bracelets. Her brother Laban and her father Bethuel agreed she should marry Isaac.

After they married, Rebecca and Isaac waited twenty years for children. When she finally became pregnant, she felt very uncomfortable. She learned that twins were fighting inside her womb. The prophecy said the older son would serve the younger. The first boy born was Esau, who was red and hairy. The second was Jacob, who grabbed his brother's heel.

As the boys grew up, they were very different from each other. Esau became a hunter who worked in the fields. Jacob was a man who stayed in the tents. Isaac loved Esau, but Rebecca loved Jacob. When Isaac became blind, Rebecca helped Jacob get a special blessing. She had him wear goat skins so he would feel hairy like Esau.
