Radio frequency, or RF, is a type of fast power.

It is an electric current that changes direction very quickly. This speed lets the power travel through the air as radio waves.

We use these waves for many things. They help us broadcast music and talk to others. They also help with radar and remote controls.

RF power moves in a special way. It does not go deep into wires. Instead, it flows along the surface. This is called the skin effect. RF power can also flow through parts that usually block it. This happens because of something called capacitive reactance. This is a property that changes with speed.

Standard wires can lose too much power. So, we use special cables called coaxial cables.

These help the power move well. We divide these fast waves into different groups. A group called the radio spectrum helps us organize them. The ITU is a group that names these bands. Some bands are called very low frequency. Others are called microwave or millimeter wave. These names help us use the waves the right way.
