To start, you hang from a bar. You grip the bar with your hands. Then, you pull your body up. You move until your chin is over the bar.

This move uses many muscles. It works your back and your arms. It also works your shoulders.

There are many ways to do this move. You can turn your palms down. This is called a pronated grip. You can also turn your palms toward you. This is called a supinated grip. Some people call this a chin-up. You can even use a weighted vest to make it harder.

Many people use pull-ups to test their strength. Police and military members often do them. They also help athletes in sports like rock climbing.

Some people use a machine to help them. This makes the move easier. It helps you build strength over time. One man even did 1,224 pull-ups in one day! That is a very big number.
