Our voices do more than just say words.

We use sound to show how we feel. We can speak in a loud or soft way. We can make our voice go high or low.

Changing our pitch helps us ask questions. A high pitch can mean a question. A low pitch can mean a statement.

We also use stress to make words stand out. We can make a sound long or short. This helps people hear the most important parts.

Sometimes we use pauses. A pause can be a short break. We might even use sounds like "um" or "er."

These sounds help us share our ideas. They help us understand each other better.
