Sometimes a solid forms in a liquid.

This happens when a liquid has too much stuff in it. The extra stuff turns into a solid. This solid falls to the bottom.

We call this solid a precipitate. It can happen when the temperature changes. It can also happen if the liquid dries out.

This helps us clean things. It can even help make strong metal. It can help clean up waste, too.

Some people call these powders "flowers." It is a neat way to make solids!
