Long ago, people lived in the Arabian Peninsula. This is a large land of sand and sea.

Some people moved from place to place. Others lived in settled towns.

In the east, a place called Dilmun grew strong.

It was a major center for trade. It had plenty of water and good spots for ships. People from far away came to trade goods there. Some stories called Dilmun a paradise garden.

In the south, many kingdoms rose. These included a place called Sheba. In the north, the Nabataean Kingdom lived. The Roman Empire later took control of that land.

Religion was also very diverse. Many people followed many different gods. Later, some people became Christians or Jews. This period ended when Muhammad began preaching Islam. By the year 630, the peninsula was unified under one state. This changed the history of the region forever.
