Some old stories say bees built a nest in his mouth when he was young. People believed this made his poems taste sweet like honey. Pindar traveled to many far lands to share his art. He went to places like Sicily and even the coast of Africa. He met many kings and powerful leaders on his trips. His work shows us what people valued in his time. He wrote about the gods and what humans can achieve. Some people find his poems hard to read today. This is because his style was very special and grand. Even so, he remains one of the greatest poets from the ancient world.
