"text": "Pierre Bourdieu was a very important French sociologist. A sociologist is a person who studies how people live together in groups. He spent his life looking at how power works in our world. He wanted to know how some people stay powerful for a long time. He also looked at how power moves from parents to their children. Bourdieu believed that society is not just about money. He thought that the way we act and think is also very important.

\n\nBourdieu created new ways to describe how society works. He used the word \"capital\" to mean more than just money. He said people have \"cultural capital,\" which is the knowledge and skills they learn. He also spoke about \"social capital,\" which is the value of the people we know. Another big idea was \"habitus.\" This is the way we learn to act through our daily habits and bodies. He also described \"fields," which are different areas of life like art or politics.

\n\nBourdieu was born in 1930 in a town called Denguin. His father was a postal worker in southern France. He studied philosophy in Paris at the École Normale Supérieure. In 1955, he served in the French Army in Algeria. While he was there, he studied the Kabyle people. This research helped him become a famous expert in anthropology. He wrote his first big book, \"Sociologie de l'Algérie,\" in 1958.

\n\nHe wrote hundreds of articles and many books during his career. His most famous book is called \"Distinction,\" published in 1979. This book explains how our tastes in things like food or art show our social position. The International Sociological Association called it a very important work. He taught at many places, including the University of Paris and the Collège de France. He won many awards, like the Goffman Prize in 1996.

\n\nMany people still study Bourdieu's ideas in schools today. He helped us understand why it is sometimes hard for people to move up in society. He showed that schools do not always give everyone the same chance. He believed that even if laws say everyone is equal, things can still be unfair. His work connects how we think to how our whole society is built. He died in 2002, but his ideas are still used by many thinkers.
