"text": "Pickpocketing is a specific form of larceny, which is a legal term for theft. It involves taking money or valuables from a person's pocket or body without them noticing. To be successful, a pickpocket often uses dexterity, which means being very skillful with their hands. They also use misdirection to draw a person's attention away from their belongings.

This crime is most common in crowded, high-traffic areas. For example, thieves often operate in mass transit stations or on subway trains. They use the movement of the crowds and the sudden stops of a train to hide their actions. Once they have the item, they may exit at the next stop to avoid being caught.\n\nThieves use many different methods to find a \"mark,\" which is the person they intend to rob. Some work alone, but many use teams and accomplices to create distractions. One method involves a team of three or more people. Two members might pretend to be a lost couple to slow down the mark. While the mark is stuck behind them, an accomplice reaches into the mark's bag.
