One of his biggest ideas was the aquarium. An aquarium is a tank filled with water for sea life. Gosse made the first public aquarium at the London Zoo in 1853. He was the one who gave it that name. He wrote a book about the deep sea. This book made many people want to see aquariums. He also studied tiny animals in pond water. These tiny animals are called rotifera. He wrote very long books about them. His work was very careful and beautiful.
