Albert Günther was a famous scientist. He studied animals like fish and reptiles. He was born in Germany. Later, he moved to England.

Günther worked at the British Museum. He had a big job there. He helped sort 2,000 snake specimens. He also led the zoology department. This is the part of a museum that studies animals.

He was very good at finding new species. A species is a specific kind of animal. He described 1,600 kinds of fish. He also found 340 kinds of reptiles. He wrote eight big books about fish.

One of his most important finds was the tuatara. People thought it was a lizard. Günther proved it was not. He found it belonged to a new group. He named this group Rhynchocephalia.

Today, many animals carry his name. This honors his hard work. Scientists still use his facts to learn about nature. He helped us see how diverse life can be.
