He was a general in the army. He became the president of Argentina from 1955 to 1958.

A military group took power from Juan Perón in 1955. This change was called the Revolución Libertadora. Perón had treated his enemies and the press poorly. Aramburu led the country for three years. He sent Perón away to live in Spain. He also changed the laws back to an older version. Aramburu promised to let the people vote again. He said he would not run for office later.

After his time as president, Aramburu stayed in politics. He ran for president again in 1963. He did not win that election.

In 1970, a group called the Montoneros took him from his home.

This was a response to things that happened in 1956. In 1956, many people who liked Perón were killed. The Montoneros killed Aramburu three days after they took him. This was a very hard time for the country.
