She was a star during the 1950s. She sang both pop and country music. Many people loved her many different songs. She sold over 100 million records during her long career. Her career lasted for six whole decades. People often called her "the Singin' Rage."

Page used a special way to record her music. She used a method called overdubbing. This means she recorded her own voice many times. She layered the sounds on top of each other. This made it sound like a group was singing. Because of this, she was sometimes called the Patti Page Quartet. This clever trick helped her make many hit songs.

Page grew up in a large family in Oklahoma.

Her family had 11 children in total. Her father worked on a railroad. Her mother and sisters picked cotton. They lived in a house without electricity. This meant she could not read after dark. She later graduated from high school in Tulsa in 1945.

One of her biggest hits was "Tennessee Waltz." This song was a huge success in 1950. It spent 13 weeks at the top of the charts. The song sold 7 million copies in the early 1950s. It is now an official song for Tennessee. She also sang "(How Much Is That) Doggie in the Window?" This song had a dog barking in it. It was very popular with children.

Page stayed famous even as music changed. Rock and roll became popular in the 1950s. Many pop singers lost their fans then. However, Page kept having hits into the 1960s. She sang songs like "Old Cape Cod." She was one of the few singers to have hits in five different decades. In 2013, she received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award.
