A striker is a player whose main job is to score goals. Rossi is remembered as a national hero in Italy. He helped his country win the 1982 FIFA World Cup. During that big tournament, he was responsible for 58% of Italy's goals. People gave him nicknames like "Pablito" and "the torero." He is widely seen as one of the greatest Italian players ever.

Rossi's way of playing changed his life. Early in his career, he played as a right winger. However, a coach at Vicenza moved him to the center of the attack. This new position helped him find open space in the box. He became an "implacable striker," which means he was very hard to stop. He quickly learned how to score many goals in a row. This change helped him lead Vicenza to a second-place finish in Serie A.

His journey had many ups and downs. He was born in Prato, Italy, in 1956. Early in his career, he faced many hard jobs with his health. He had to have three operations on his knees. He also faced a difficult time during a betting scandal called Totonero. This led to a two-year ban from playing. Rossi always said he was innocent of any wrongdoing. He eventually returned to the game and found great success.

Rossi achieved many amazing records during his career.
