Because of his amazing skill and leadership, people gave him the nickname "Le Roi," which means "The King." He was a prolific goalscorer who could find the back of the net with ease. He won the Ballon d'Or, a prize for the best player, three times in a row from 1983 to 1985. These achievements made him a legend in the world of sports. He even finished seventh in the vote for the FIFA Player of the Century.

Platini had a very specific way of playing that made him special. He was famous for his ability to score goals from free-kicks. To get better at this, he practiced with his friend and goalkeeper, Jean-Michel Moutier. He even used a row of dummies to act like a defensive wall of players. This practice helped him become a master of the ball. His skill allowed him to lead his teams to many important victories on the field.

His journey began in the town of Jœuf, France, where he was born on 21 June 1955. His father, Aldo, was also a professional footballer. Michel started his career with the club AS Nancy in September 1972. It was not always easy for him at the start. He once fainted during a breathing test and doctors worried about his heart. However, he overcame these worries and became a star for Nancy before moving to Saint-Étienne in 1979.

Platini moved to Italy to play for the famous club Juventus in 1982.

While there, he wore the number 10 shirt. He won many big trophies, including the European Cup in 1985. He also won the Serie A title in 1984 and 1986. During his time in Italy, he was the top scorer in the league for three years straight. He was a vital part of a team that won many different honors.

Beyond his clubs, Platini was a hero for the France national team. He led them to win the European Championship in 1984. In that tournament, he was both the top scorer and the best player. He was part of a famous group of players called the "carré magique," or magic square. After he stopped playing, he became the president of UEFA, the group that runs European football.
