Octasulfur is a bright yellow solid. It has no taste. It also has no smell. This substance is a type of sulfur. It is the most common form of sulfur in nature.

Tiny parts called atoms make up this substance. In octasulfur, eight sulfur atoms join together. They form a ring shape. This ring looks like a crown.

Scientists have even found it in space. They found it on an asteroid named Ryugu. This happened when they studied samples brought back to Earth.

Octasulfur can change its shape. It can be a liquid. We call this liquid form lambda-sulfur. It can also form large crystals. These crystals are yellow and let light through. This is called being translucent. It is a very important part of our world.
