People value the NWA because it has a very long history. It has shaped how wrestling is seen around the world for many years. It is more than just a sport; it is a grand tradition.

In the beginning, the NWA worked using a special territory system.

This meant different companies ruled different local areas. These local groups joined together to form a board of directors. They shared one single world champion to represent everyone. This champion would travel to many places to defend his title. This helped all the local groups work together and stay strong. This way of working made the NWA very influential.

The NWA was started in 1948 by Paul "Pinkie" George.

He did not work alone to build it. Six other promoters helped him, including Al Haft and Sam Muchnick. Orville Brown became the very first NWA World Heavyweight Champion. In 1950, Sam Muchnick became the President of the group. He held this important job for many years. This era helped wrestling reach huge crowds through new television shows.

Things changed as wrestling grew and moved to cable TV.

In the 1980s, a group called the WWF began to expand across the whole country. This caused many original NWA members to go out of business. One big member, WCW, left the NWA in 1993.

During this time, stars like Ric Flair were very famous. The NWA even had its own big events like Starrcade. These events were very important for fans to watch.

Even after many changes, the NWA has found new ways to grow.

For a while, it licensed its famous brand to other groups. Then, it became its own single promotion once again. In October 2023, it even brought back its old territory system. The first new group to join this system was NWA Exodus Pro Midwest. It shows how an old tradition can find new life. The NWA continues to connect the past with the present.
